The Fade Series of 1U Tiles allow you to add attenuation to your modular system in several complimentary varieties.
- Fade A - passive audio/log attenuator, best suited to controlling audio volume
- Fade B - passive linear attenuator, best suited to control CV depth
- Fade I - active linear inverting attenuator, best suited to control CV depth and polarity
- Fade O - active linear attenuator (w/ optional gain) and DC offset, best suited to control CV depth and initial bias
We are retooling to use new front panels, but only Fade O is available today. We will continue to build up more Fade O units while also getting the rest of the series.
Fade O is a fade (attenuation) and offset utility featuring a dual-concentric pot. It is versatile utility module for level shifting and controlling the amplitude of a signal. It is DC coupled and can be used with CV or audio signals, though it is more likely to be used with CV because of the taper and functionality. With no input plugged in, it can be used as a DC source.
Depending on the DIP switch settings, the Tile can provide only attenuation or attenuation and gain, and unipolar or bipolar offset.
The smaller, top knob controls fade and the larger, bottom knob controls offset.
- Switch 1: Offset
- When it is in the OFF position, the offset is bi-polar -10 V to +10 V
- fully CCW = -10 V, fully CW = +10V, 6 o'clock = 0 V
- When it is in the ON position, the offset is unipolar 0 V to +10V
- fully CCW = 0 V, fully CW = +10V, 6 o'clock = 5 V
- When it is in the OFF position, the offset is bi-polar -10 V to +10 V
- Switch 2: Fade
- When it is in the OFF position, the attenuation circuit has unity gain (down to -infinity dB/mute)
- fully CCW = -infinity dB/mute, fully CW = 0 dB/unity gain
- When it is in the ON position, the attenuation circuit has 2x/6 dB gain (down to -infinity dB/mute)
- fully CCW = -infinity dB/mute, fully CW = 2x/6 dB gain
- When it is in the OFF position, the attenuation circuit has unity gain (down to -infinity dB/mute)
The Fade O ships with both switchs set to OFF. This means there is bi-polar offset, with unity-gain attenuation.
